About me

My name is Marek Zyga. I was born in 1968 and have been creating ceramic sculptures since 2003. My debut exhibition took place in 2007 at the Ceramics Museum in Bolesławiec, where I currently live and work. I am a member of Association of Polish Artists and Designers.

My sculptures are rooted in classical sculptural forms. They feature busts, torsos, and heads, often carrying symbolic, erotic, and at times surreal meanings. My work is shaped by my experience and keen observation. I am inspired by people, by the relationships between individuals, their differences, and similarities.

As a sculptor, I focus on the human form, particularly the body and gestures. I am captivated by individuals, their behavior, and reactions. My sculptures transform images from reality into abstract narratives. In gestures, I search for sentences; in sentences, I look for words; and in words, I seek out letters, which I incorporate into my creations.

In my bronze sculptures, I blend classical forms with contemporary design. I use letters as integral elements of my work. To me, letters are not just symbols—they are works of art in themselves. They represent something dynamic and mysterious, a part of the world that is both fascinating and elusive. We may not fully understand where they come from or where they are going, yet they perfectly mirror our existence. Letters are symbols of communication, essential in the modern world, and they also represent the struggles against war, conflict, and misunderstanding.
